IFAD: Official opening of the Cluster Development and Rural Transformation Project


The Cluster Development and Rural Transformation Project, implemented by the Government of Montenegro with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), will be officially opened on Friday, July 7, at the Innovative Entrepreneurial Center Tehnopolis starting at 10:30am.

At the opening of the IFAD project, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Milutin Simovic will speak, as well as the Director of IFAD for the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Central Asia, dr Khalida Bouzard.

On behalf of the municipalities where the project is being implemented, the President of Niksic Municipality, Veselin Grbovic will address the official opening, with representatives of municipalities, representatives of ministries and institutions, associations of agricultural producers and companies in the field of agriculture.

According to the Agreement signed by representatives of the Government of Montenegro and the IFAD on May 12, 2017 at the headquarters of that organization in Rome, Montenegro, as a member of the IFAD, received very favorable credit in the amount of EUR 3.9 million and non-refundable support in the amount of EUR 1.9 million, for the improvement of agricultural production and infrastructure in rural areas. With the envisaged contribution of the Government of Montenegro and local governments, the total value of the project is EUR 13.6 million.

The project includes seven municipalities: Niksic, Savnik, Zabljak, Mojkovac, Bijelo Polje, Petnjica and Berane.
