An internal meeting was held on the occasion of the opening of the I&E center within the BLUEWBC project On January 26, 2022, the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor hosted an internal meeting on the project entitled “Sustainable development of BLUE economies through higher education and innovation in Western Balkan Countries” (acronym: BLUEWBC) within the Erasmus + capacity building program in higher education. The meeting was attended by members of the working team of the Faculty of Kotor and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Tehnopolis from Niksic.
The meeting discussed the plan to open a Center for Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at the Kotor Maritime Faculty, whose resources will be presented to the wider community, where students and employers from the blue economy, innovation and entrepreneurship sectors will take an active part. Also, members of the working teams made a draft of promotional and dissemination activities for 2022 so that the results of the BLUEWBC project so far could be presented in the best way. Planning to attend training in Norway and Lithuania was one of the items on the agenda of today’s meeting.
In the meantime, valuable equipment has been installed at the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor and the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management to improve teaching in undergraduate and master’s studies. Most of the equipment is an integral part of the center, where by the end of the project there will be trainings with employers and students that will serve as a link to develop the concept of lifelong learning (LLL), promotional events that will serve to connect better with relevant stakeholders, areas of blue economy, innovation, and entrepreneurship. These are steps aimed at achieving the basic goal of the project, to prepare an environment through capacity building (educational, technical, and spatial) that will properly connect the academic community with the maritime economy and in which the Faculty of Maritime Studies is largely supported by the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Tehnopolis Niksic.
The meeting was attended by Radmila Gagic, MA, and Maja Skuric, MA, on behalf of the Faculty of Maritime Studies of the University of Montenegro, while the participants from the IEC Tehnopolis were Aleksandar Janicic and Anja Grabovica.
