Nine great solutions for improving the quality of life of the citizens of Niksic were presented

The big regional hackathon Smart Niksic – smart solutions for sustainable development, ended last night.

Hackathon participants had a big challenge in front of them – to create a smart solution to one of the defined problems of the Municipality of Niksic:

  • Lack of E-service for citizens with a special focus on the possibility of electronic receipt of applications and issuance of documents;
  • Inadequate system of internal management in employee records;
  • The problem of the non-existence of an adequate electronic document management system;
  • Inadequate interactive and innovative presentation of the complete tourist offer.

Nearly forty competitors worked non-stop for 48 hours in the premises of IEC Tehnopolis, wherewith the support of mentors they developed their innovative ideas in order to raise the efficiency and quality of life of the citizens of Niksic and the development of the local economy.

At the Demo Day, nine teams from Montenegro and the region presented the innovative ideas that they had developed in the previous two days, and first place was won by the DSSR team from Tuzla. They have created a solution for automating the records of working hours of employees in the company, which is realized with a fingerprint reader, as an elegant, simple and eco-friendly solution.

The second place was won by the Error 404 team from Sarajevo, which worked on creating a solution to the problem in the field of tourism and created an application that will offer smart solutions for digitizing the tourist offer of the Niksic municipality.

The team from Zenica, Four Amigos, won third place. They worked on creating software to solve the problem of the non-existence of e-services for document management and issuance, as well as the possibility of electronic problem reporting.

In addition to these three teams that were named the best, the other participants also offered great solutions.

The GirlTHing team worked to address the issue of traditional and impractical employee records. Using modern technologies, they have created a reliable system called SystEvident, which speeds up the process of recording arrivals and departures from work. The system enables the competent persons within the companies to more easily monitor the work of employees and simplifies and automates the preparation of monthly and annual reports.

Partour is a virtual tourist guide based on the model of an adventure game in which the tourist revives the monuments of the city and discovers the sights with the help of AR technology. After the tour, the tourist can test his knowledge and exchange it for real prizes.

The engineers on the methane team worked to solve the problem of inadequately presented tourist offers, creating an interactive functional application that would be a digital host. The task of the application is to gather all the information about the city and events in one place and make it easily accessible to citizens and tourists.

The Bits team focused on improving the standard way of tourism. They solved the problem with an interactive map and a point reward system.

The Innovative π team made an effort to create software – an efficient e-service that aims to facilitate existing procedures and affirm the concept of electronic documentation.

Cape Ann worked on solving the problem of the non-existence of e-service for documents and reporting problems by creating a web application.

Valuable cash prizes in the amount of EUR 2 500 for the first place, EUR 1 500 for the second place, and EUR 1 000 for the third place were awarded for the first three places.

Hackathon was organized in cooperation with partners from INTERA Technology Park (Mostar), the City of Zadar, BIT Center Tuzla, and the University of Zadar, within the project 2CODE – Cooperation for Development of Cross Border Business Environment Enhanced, which is co-financed by ERDF and IPA II funds Of the European Union. The organization of the hackathon is supported by the Municipality of Niksic and Coca-Cola HBC Montenegro.
