Online kick-off meeting officially launched the AWeS0Me project

The online kick-off meeting held on March 30, officially launched the project AWeS0Me – Agricultural Waste as Sustainable 0 km building Material.

At the very beginning of the event, the project partners addressed the institutions they came from, as well as the importance of the project for the development of their communities.

Marijana Jovovic, the associate of the project management manager of IEC Tehnopolis, stated that for the first time an initiative of this kind was launched in Montenegro and that she believes it will be the initial impetus for the development of similar activities.

The AWeS0Me project aims to raise awareness of the existence of fully sustainable thermal insulation building materials made from agricultural waste. Within the project, capacities on energy efficiency will be built through the organization of educational workshops, seminars, conferences with the participation of local authorities. It is also planned to develop joint action plans and strategies in order to apply energy sustainable materials within the program area, as well as to organize seminars in order to disseminate knowledge about construction materials originating from agricultural waste.

The second part of the meeting was dedicated to the project implementation phase, and all partners who were the leaders of the work packages presented the planned activities, as well as the goals that need to be achieved. It is stated that the key results of the project are:

  • Improved implementation of energy efficiency within public sector infrastructure segments;
  • Improved capacities in the field of ecology and application of ecological strategies of energy sustainable materials;
  • As well as the promoted use of energy sustainable materials in the construction sector.

In the end, the project partners discussed further steps that need to be taken and the possibilities of cooperation with local and national stakeholders.

The leading partner in the project is CONFIMIALBANIA, Albania, and in addition to Tehnopolis, the partners are also Politecnico di Bari and Molise Verso il 2000, Italy.

The project is funded through the Interreg IPA cross-border cooperation program Italy – Albania – Montenegro for the financial period 2014-2020.
