Thanks to the financial support of the European Union, within the STAR project, which promotes tourism and the attraction of digital nomads to rural cross-border areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, we are opening applications for the Residency program for digital nomads that will be held 15 April – 15 May 2026.
The Residency program is designed as a month of carefully planned stay and work in Herzegovina and Montenegro, with a focus on rural tourism. Participants will mostly stay with local tourism operators in rural areas and use their services, through a schedule that combines a working environment, local experiences, nature and getting to know the community.
The goal of the program and the STAR project
The STAR project contributes to the sustainable development of tourism by creating preconditions for attracting digital nomads as a new target group in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. Through project activities, the capacities of tourism operators to attract digital nomads are strengthened, a cross-border tourism product for digital nomads is developed, and awareness is raised among the general public and digital nomads about the potential of our countries as attractive destinations for this type of tourism.
What participants can expect
The program is content-intensive and includes frequent travel across both countries. Participants will stay for a month in multiple locations and visit a number of destinations in Montenegro and Herzegovina. According to the program plan, participants will go through the following destinations: Podgorica, Mojkovac, Kolašin, Šavnik, Žabljak, Plužine, Nikšić, Herceg Novi, Kotor, then in BiH Ravno, Stolac, Čapljina (Hutovo blato), Ljubuški, Mostar and Grude.
