Social entrepreneurship
A social enterprise is an initiator of the social economy that aims to influence society more than making money for owners or stakeholders. It operates by providing market services in an entrepreneurial and innovative way and uses its profits primarily to achieve social goals. It is managed openly and responsibly, and in particular involves employees, consumers, and stakeholders directly affected by its commercial activities.
Social entrepreneurs are individuals who offer innovative solutions to the most current social problems. They are ambitious and persistent in their desire to contribute to the spread of new ideas for the common good.
Social entrepreneurship deals with recognizing and solving social problems such as exclusion, poverty, unemployment, etc. with the application of innovative methods and strategies.
RISE – Regional Incubator for Social Entrepreneurs
RISE – Regional Incubator for Social Entrepreneurs aims to enrich the regional ecosystem in the Western Balkans and enable young people to develop socially innovative solutions that will make the region a better place.
RISE Journey is a specially adapted program which is free of charge for the participants and which will help interested individuals in learning, developing but also applying their ideas to make changes in their environment.
RISE Journey aims to encourage new generations of change initiators to resolve issues in their local communities. This support program consists of two phases: IDEATION and INCUBATION, from which innovative solutions that nurture a dynamic ecosystem will come up.
The IDEATION chapter, lasting 4 months, presents support for the development of an idea, where the participant develops his idea from scratch to a business model with the support of professional mentors. Then, through the Taylor-made support program, he/she further improves the skills of creative thinking and designing solutions to problems in his environment. At the end of the first part of the program, the participant presents his idea at the Demo Day where he fights to become a part of 12 selected teams from the region, which will receive additional financial and practical support for implementing their ideas and to make a positive impact on the local community.
In the INCUBATION chapter, 12 selected teams continue a journey lasting 6 months, where they will test and validate the impact of the business model through a program tailored to their needs and with the help of a grant for developing a business idea. Also, during this period, the teams will have the opportunity to be part of regional travel and networking through activities that will be realized within the RISE Bootcamp and RISE Expedition. Within the above mentioned, they will improve their knowledge by meeting their peers, successful social enterprises and coaches, mentors, and experts from the entire region of the Western Balkans.
RISE Journey ends with a RISE regional event, which will be attended by all partners and associates of the RISE program and which will present all the successes achieved during this trip.
