The big regional hackathon Smart Nikšić – Smart Solutions for sustainable development, concluded last night.
Participants of the hackathon faced a significant challenge – to create a smart solution for one of the defined problems of the Municipality of Niksic:
- The absence of E-services for citizens, with a special focus on the ability to electronically receive requests and issue documents;
- An inadequate internal management system for employee records;
- The lack of an adequate electronic document management system;
- Inadequate interactive and innovative presentation of the complete tourist offer.
Nearly forty competitors worked non-stop for 48 hours on the premises of IEC Tehnopolis, where, with the support of mentors, they developed their innovative ideas to improve the efficiency and quality of life of the citizens of Niksic, and the development of the local economy.
On Demo Day, nine teams from Montenegro and the region presented their innovative ideas developed over the previous two days, and the first place was awarded to team DSSR from Tuzla. They created a solution for the automation of employee working time records using a fingerprint reader, as an elegant, simple, and eco-friendly solution.
Second place was taken by team Error 404 from Sarajevo, who worked on creating a solution for a problem in the tourism sector and developed an application offering smart solutions for digitizing the tourist offer of the Niksic municipality.
The team from Zenica, Four Amigos, won third place. They worked on creating software to address the problem of the absence of e-services for managing and issuing documents, as well as the possibility of electronic problem reporting.
Besides these three teams declared the best, the other participants also offered great solutions.
Team GirlTHing worked on solving the problem of traditional and impractical employee records. Using modern technologies, they created a reliable system named SystEvident, which speeds up the process of recording arrivals and departures at work. The system allows company officials to easily monitor employee work and simplifies and automates the creation of monthly and annual reports.
Partour is a virtual tourist guide based on the model of an adventure game in which the tourist brings monuments to life and discovers landmarks with the help of AR technology. After completing the tour, the tourist can test their knowledge and exchange it for real rewards.
The Engineers on Methane team worked on solving the problem of inadequately presented tourist offerings, creating an interactive functional application that would serve as a digital host. The application’s task is to collect all information about the city and events in one place and make them easily accessible to citizens and tourists.
The Bits team focused on improving the standard way of tourism. They solved the problem with an interactive map and a point reward system.
The Innovative π team made an effort to create software – an efficient e-service aimed at simplifying existing procedures and promoting the concept of electronic documentation.
Cape Ann worked on solving the absence of e-services for documents and problem reporting by creating a web application.
Monetary prizes were also awarded for the first three places, amounting to EUR 2,500 for the first place, EUR 1,500 for the second place, and EUR 1,000 for the third place.
