Successfully Implemented International Study Visit: New Steps Towards Strengthening Strategic Partnerships and Capacities of IEC Tehnopolis

13.02.2026.

Part of the IPC Tehnopolis team – Đorđije Brkuljan, Tihomir Ćuzović and Miloš Radojević – carried out an official study visit to Austria, Croatia and Germany, with the aim of strengthening international cooperation and enhancing the capacities of IPC Tehnopolis and TechLab in the field of 3D and CNC technologies.

The study visit began in Croatia with a tour of 3D Grupa in Sveta Nedelja, which includes the companies Topomatika, Tehnoprogres, and Izit. At their demo center, advanced 3D printing technologies (FDM, SLA, SLS, metal, and PolyJet), 3D scanning systems, quality control solutions,s and material testing technologies were presented. Particular attention was given to SLS devices meeting medical standards and large-scale 3D scanners, which represent significant potential for the development of future services within our Laboratory. Discussions also included a return visit and future technical cooperation.

This was followed by a visit to the Science Park in Graz, where a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between our two institutions. The meeting provided an opportunity to present the support model that IPC Tehnopolis offers to startups and the SME sector, as well as to define concrete steps for future collaboration, from startup team exchanges to the use of coworking and laboratory resources.

The central part of the visit was a tour of the DMG MORI factory in Pfronten (Germany), one of the global leaders in CNC machine production. Our team had the opportunity to gain insight into the entire production process, from logistics and component processing to assembly and quality control. Special attention was given to five-axis milling machines and CNC lathes that align with TechLab’s development plans, as well as to their professional training model.

The study visit concluded with a meeting with representatives of the Porin Development Agency in Rijeka, where possibilities for project cooperation, signing a memorandum, and joint activities in the field of 3D technologies and innovation ecosystem development were discussed.

This study visit represents an important step toward the internationalization of IEC Tehnopolis, with a special focus on TechLab. The established contacts and agreed collaborations contribute to strengthening technological capacities and positioning IPC Tehnopolis as a relevant and reliable regional partner in the field of advanced manufacturing technologies.
