Tourism organization Niksic and Tourism Cluster Montenegro in cooperation with IEC Tehnopolis today marked the World Tourism Day by panel discussion.
A panel discussion on “Sustainable Tourism, instrument for development” in Tehnopolis and exhibition of handicrafts on the plateau in front of the Department Store, marked the World Tourism Day in Niksic. Speaking about the (non) sustainability of Montenegrin tourism, Prof. Dr. Rade Ratkovic said that it is good that Niksic has circumvented the trend of mass construction because natural resources are preserved that way.
“It is necessary to renew the villages and the rural economy, because Niksic is, according to the master plan, on the road connecting the coast and Durmitor. Through Niksic and its surroundings, it is not necessary to go beyond what needs to be done to make people stay, which is the reconstruction of villages, rural economy and healthy food. Only the waves of building construction and large buildings that damage the environment should be guarded”, Ratkovic said, adding that tourists should come and stay in the Niksic municipality. The offer must be inland and rural.
As Ratkovic said, seaside is attacked by unspecified construction that roughly distorts social, economic and ecological sustainability and the state has to put it under control.
Prof. Dr. Ivo Zupanovic believes that sustainable development of tourism can not be viewed at present, but as a process that should be based on respect for ecological, economic and sociological conditions, and that without adequate cohesion of science and profession, quality tourism can not be achieved. During the discussion Zupanovic talked about master plan and the development of the so-called diffused and integral hotels.
Event was organized by the local tourist organization (TO) and the tourist cluster “Montenegro”, in cooperation with IEC Tehnopolis.
